"It hurts when you know something is doing wrong and there's nothing you really do about it."
- Cammi Granade
This saying reminds us of the time when one does something
wrong knowing how wrong it's ethics are. This is common in organisations where
many a times one individual makes an unethical decision while being influenced
by other people. However the essence lies in between personal choices and
communal ones. I will be lying if I say that I always agree to the terms of our
society or authorities in regard to engineering and welfare of the people. This
actually makes me rethink; if morality exists amongst the engineer
intellectuals?
Engineers confront to moral decisions in everyday lives.
Each decision of an individual is justified by emotions and reasoning. It is
difficult to separate our hearts from our brain in any particular decision for
anyone but engineers are taught to do the reciprocal. Our thoughts are inward
statements which lead us to follow the right path along with reasons which are
influenced by how people percept and observe their surroundings. Emotions on
the other hand are the 'gut feelings' which does not require any further detail
such as explanation or reasoning. Because we believe in what is right or wrong.
What is good and for whom it is good. And this good usually refers to society,
culture, customs, environment etc.
I encourage others to evaluate for this question and have a
look upon themselves if there's any conjunction in society for the welfare of
people and morality
